In this sections you will find the cracks for your standalone DVD players to make them region free.  In the table below find the make and model of your DVD player to get the crack.  If you know of any other cracks / hacks that are not here already or if you spot a mistake please e-mail the info / links to: contributions@dvdsecrets.co.uk.  All the contributions will be credited to you.  In some cases you may need to open up your DVD Player to make it region free.  In those cases we have provided links to 7th Zone which is an excellent DVD website and all the hardware documentation is clear, easy to understand and contains pictures.  Please keep cracks / hacks / info etc coming in.......

Aiwa

XR-DV370KN Press PAUSE, ENTER then enter code: 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9.  Then for Region 1 press 1, R2 press 2.  Press PAUSE.  Switch player OFF and then ON.
Akai DV-P1000 Switch DVD  off with OFF button.  At the same time press EJECT and A-B and hold for a few seconds.  Turn on DVD with ON button.  A:00 D:12 will appear on screen.  Change value of A to 05 (PLAY=forward, STOP=backward).  Change value of D to 00, 01 or 02 (00=region free, 01=region 1, 02=region 2).  To memorise settings press PAUSE.  Switch OFF and then ON.
Apex AD-600A Make sure there is no DVD in player.  Turn player ON.  Press SETUP.  Go to PREFERENCES and press STEP.  Press |<< (track previous) and then press |>> (track next).  You will now go into the  LOOPHOLES menu.  Set the region code to BYPASS and disable MACROVISION.
Bush DVD-102 Open tray by pressing OPEN/CLOSE button.  On your remote control press 2, 0, 0 and 1.  Press ENTER.  When you enter the SETUP page enter 13 in the country code and this will make it region free.  Close the tray by pressing OPEN/CLOSE button.
Bush DVD-2000 Open drive tray.  Press 7, 7, SELECT/ENTER.  This will bring up a menu.  To change the region codes you need to change the value in COUNTRY CODE.  Enter 1 (Region 1), 2 (Region 2) and 13 (Region Free).  Press PLAY and close tray.
Daewoo DHC-2200K Make sure there is no DVD in player.  Press STOP.  Press SETUP, TITLE, STEP, NEXT and you will enter a menu.  Go to the bottom of the menu to REGIONS.  Highlight BYPASS and press SEL.  To exit press SETUP and there you have it.
Encore DV-450 Turn player ON.  Press SETUP.  Press the following buttons 3, 8, 8, 8, 3.  You will enter a menu where you can set the player to REGION FREE.
Hitachi DV-P2E Hardware.  Click here for instructions at 7th Zone.
Hitachi DV-P505 Press SETUP, LAST, SKIP PREV, SKIP NEXT and you will get a menu.  Change the region code to what you want.
JMB DVD-3000 Switch player ON.  Press STOP, OPEN/CLOSE, SKIP FD, SKIP BD all at the same time.  When the hidden menu appears release the buttons.  In the menu select region number and exit.

Maplin MK1 Open drive tray.  To bring-up a special menu press 7, 7, SELECT/ENTER.  Change the COUNTRY CODE to 1 (R1), 2 (R2), 13 (Region Free).  Press PLAY and close tray.
Maplin MK2 Open drive tray.  Press 2, 0, 0, 1 and then ENTER. When you enter the SETUP page change the COUNTRY CODE to 13 to make it region free.
Marantz DVD-890 Hardware.  Click here for instructions at 7th Zone.
Matsui DVD-110 Press MENU, 9, OPEN/CLOSE, 5.  You will get region selection come up.  Press MUTE to choose all regions.
Panasonic A-100 Hardware.  Click here for instructions at 7th Zone.

Samsung 707 / 807 / 907 Insert a different DVD into drive (different to what your drive is by default).  Let it load and then EJECT and leave tray open.  Press TIME SEARCH, 1, 1, 9.  The tray will close on its own.  Now press TV, 2, 0, 0.  That should do it.
Samsung 709 For this hack you will need an AIWA HI-FI remote.  On the AIWA remote press RANDOM (shift+random).  You will see ADJUST displayed on DVD and the drive tray will open.  Insert a normal Region 1 DVD and let it load.  When the DVD menu loads press SETUP.  Go to PARENTAL CONTROL option and choose CHANGE PASSWORD.  The default password is: 7777.  Enter a new password: 3521, and again to confirm it.  At the PARENTAL setup lock the DVD to level 1, press RETURN, and RETURN again to return to the DVD menu.  Now press EJECT and insert a region 1 DVD and press play on your remote.  Your R1 DVD should load up without any problems.

Thomson DTH-3700 Make sure there is no DVD in the player.  Press REP, 38767.  02 will appear on screen.  Press 9.  When 9 appears on screen press OPEN/CLOSE.  Switch OFF the player.
Thomson DTH-4000 Make sure there is no DVD in the player.  Press REP, 38767.  02 will appear on screen.  Press 9.  When 9 appears on screen press OPEN/CLOSE.  Switch OFF the player.
Thomson DTH-4200 Make sure there is no DVD in the player.  Press REP, 38767.  02 will appear on screen.  Press 9.  When 9 appears on screen press OPEN/CLOSE.  Switch OFF the player.
Thomson DTH-4500 Make sure there is no DVD in the player.  Press REP, 38767.  02 will appear on screen.  Press 9.  When 9 appears on screen press OPEN/CLOSE.  Switch OFF the player.
